Malta is not just known for its sunshine – it also has a wealth of history to be explored. First settled in 4000 BC, there are some 20 prehistoric temples, together with the remains of the Phoenician and Roman eras to discover. Visit St Paul’s Bay where the apostle was shipwrecked, and Rabat with its excellent early Christian catacombs. The golden era of the Knights of St John is embodied within the walls of Valletta. Everybody speaks English besides the native Maltese and thousands of British holidaymakers return to the Maltese Islands year after year. In AD60 St Paul wrote "the islanders showed us no small mercy" - and they haven't changed! |
